Production Imager with drawer open. Fayram Design defined the appearance. Fayram Design also developed the drawer mechanics and latching system. It is a fully mechanical system using fairly simple components. The drawer slides on inexpensive commercial-off-the-shelf nylon pulley-rollers, rolling on simple but custom sheet-metal slide-guides. The drawer latches and unlatches with a simple push-push touch. A spring assist slides the drawer slightly forward when unlatched for easy access to manually slide the drawer. Overall, the mechanics were designed to be robust, ergonomic, easy to assemble, and inexpensive to build in low production quantities. |
